Chus & Ceballos: due artisti con una carriera segnata da grandi risultati dietro le consolle, nelle classifiche, e nell’ambiente della musica elettronica sul campo.
Abbiamo avuto l’onore di potergli fare queste brevi ma intense domande, da gustarsi nel tempo di un caffè!

1. Chus & Ceballos: avete fatto molta strada e costruito una carriera ed un immagine di voi solida ed autorevole. Qual è l’ingrediente che vi rende cosi forti da cosi tanto tempo?
   La passione per ciò che facciamo, l’umiltà nei momenti di successo e la fiducia nei momenti no, la perseveranza, il duro lavoro e la fiducia nel lavoro di squadra sono gli ingredienti che ci hanno fatto percorrere una lunga strada.
2. Parlateci della vostra creatura, The Iberican Sound: come nasce, cos’è e cosa rappresenta per voi?
   Quando abbiamo iniziato a fare musica alla fine degli anni ’90 eravamo molto delusi dalla politica mo delle etichette spagnole in quel momento, mancavano di personalità; stavano cercando musica simile alle hot track in quel momento. Eravamo stanchi di queste pratiche monopolistiche, e da quella frustrazione abbiamo deciso di fare tutto ciò che sentivamo e creare il nostro sound e un’etichetta per pubblicare la nostra musica, il risultato è stato un mix di House e Techno con un sacco di groove e elementi di percussione con un tocco di contenuto etnico / spirituale. Non avevamo idea di cosa sarebbe successo e non potevamo immaginare la grande accoglienza che abbiamo avuto a livello internazionale. Il termine “suono iberico” è stato creato per collocare le nostre origini in una mappa, la penisola iberica, geograficamente in cui si trovano la Spagna e il Portogallo.
3. Avete una discografia importante e ricca di grande prodzioni: qual è quella che vi ha dato più soddisfazione e sentite più rappresentativa?
   Siamo dj con molte facce e nel nostro catalogo vedrai alcuni brani house classici come “That Feeling” che è stato un enorme successo, la tech house melodica dei primi anni 2000 come la “Luzon – Bagio track” (Chus & Ceballos remix) che ha avuto un impatto enorme, “Strong Rhythm”, la primissima versione Stereo è stata una svolta, i suoni tribali / etnici di “Africa” ​​o “Echoes from Doruma” sono stati brani influenti con il nostro sound originale. Tra gli ultimi siamo molto orgogliosi del nostro album NOMADAS, la canzone vocale di Astrid Suryanto “All I Want” brilla, e l’anno scorso è stato molto prolifico con le uscite di Knee Deep in Sound, Saved, o Get Physical tra altri, poi ci sono le nostre ultime uscite, “Santanera”, “Galera”, “Senja in Bali” e “Balla coi lupi” di cui siamo entusiasti.
4. Techno, Tech house ed House stanno acquistendo importanza nel mercato discografico mondiale anno dopo anno: cosa dobbiamo aspettarci dal futuro?
   Le tendenze musicali sono state cicliche nel corso degli anni e c’è una regola: dopo un po ‘le persone si stancano di una formula specifica e cercano qualcosa di diverso. E’ difficile che uno stile completamente diverso appaia, sia sempre più come una re-invenzione da un vecchio. Vediamo uscire con successo le tracce con più contenuto melodico e spiritualità, prendendo posto di alcune tech house che sembrano un po ‘vuote. D’altra parte, la musica classica di House non invecchia mai, è rimasta solida negli anni. Per fare una previsione completa vediamo la Techno muoversi attraverso un ritmo più duro, più veloce e più energico, come nei primi anni 2000.
   La musica elettronica è in continua evoluzione e mutevole, e questa è la sfida e il grande divertimento.
5. Programmi nel breve termine per Chus & Ceballos? Obiettivi da raggiungere nei prossimi anni?
   Stereo Productions festeggerà il 20 ° anniversario l’anno prossimo, sarà un anno grandioso in cui presenteremo un intero programma di eventi: un film-documentario che racconterà la storia di Chus & Ceballos e Stereo negli anni, ed organizzeremo feste in tutto il mondo per celebrare una data così importante, con i guest Dj che sono stati una parte essenziale nella nostra storia e, naturalmente, alcune pubblicazioni musicali speciali nella nostra etichetta, inclusi i remix delle tracce stereo più famose di questo vasto catalogo. 1. Chus & Ceballos: you have come a long way, and built a solid reputation. What’s the ingredient making you so strong over the years?
   Passion in what we do, being humble in the peak moments and confidence in the low ones, persistence, hard work and believe in teamwork are the ingredients that made us come a long way.

 

2. Talk to us about your creature, The Iberican Sound: how it’s born, and what does it mean for you?
   When we started making music in the late 90’s we were very disappointed with the Spanish label’s policy at that time, they have a lack of personality; they were looking for music similar to the hot tracks at that moment. We were tired of that monopoly practices, and from that frustration, we decided to do whatever we felt and create our sound and a label to release our music, the result was a blend of House and Techno with a lot of groove and percussion elements with a touch of ethnic/spiritual content. We had no idea what is going to happen, and we couldn’t imagine the great welcome that we had internationally. The term ‘Iberican Sound’ was made to put our origins in a map, the Iberian Peninsula, geographically where Spain and Portugal are located.

 

3. You have an essential and very reach discography, which tracks gave you the most satisfaction, and which one you feel represents you better?
   We are Dj’s with many faces, and in our catalog you will see some classic house tracks like ’That Feeling’ that was a massive hit, melodic tech-house from the early 2000s like the ‘Luzon – Bagio track (Chus & Ceballos remix) that made a massive impact, ‘Strong Rhythm’ the very first Stereo release was a breakthrough, the tribal/Ethnic sounds of ‘Africa’ or ‘Echoes from Doruma were influential tracks with our signature sound. From recent times we are very proud of our album NOMADAS, were the vocal song by Astrid Suryanto  ‘All I Want’ shines, and the last year was a very prolific one with the releases on Knee Deep in Sound, Saved, or Get Physical among others, our latest babies have been ‘Santanera’, `Galera’, ‘Senja in Bali’ and ‘Dances with Wolves’ that we are thrilled with.

 

4. Techno, House and Tech House are getting more and more popularity, in your opinion what should we expect from the future?
   Music tendencies have been repetitive cycles over the years, there is a rule, after a while, people get tired of a specific formula and look for something different, it’s challenging that a whole different style will appear, is always more like a re-invention from an old one. We see coming strong the tracks with more melodic content and spirituality, taking over certain tech house that seems a bit empty. On the other hand, classic House music never gets old, has stayed solid over the years. To make a whole prediction we see the Techno moving through a harder, faster and more energetic pace, like in the early 2000s.

Electronic music is always evolving and mutating, and that is the challenge and the big fun of it.

 

5. What are the short-term programs for Chus & Ceballos? What’s the goal you want to archieve in the next years?
   Stereo Productions is going to celebrate the 20th anniversary next year, it will be a huge year where we’ll be presenting a whole program of events: a film-documentary that will tell the story of Chus & Ceballos and Stereo over the years, parties around the world to celebrate such an important date, with guest Dj’s that has been an essential part in our history and of course some special music releases in our label including remixes of the most famous Stereo tracks from this vast catalogue.In the short term, we are preparing the Miami Sessions compilation for Armada SBJKT to be released right on time for the Miami Music Week in March, we are also finishing some new remixes for David Morales, Angel Moraes, DJ Flume, Denney and Danny Serrano. The Stereo Showcases are getting stronger and the next ones will take place in Miami, Peru, Mexico, Portugal, Spain and Chile among others.
